Wrightsville Beach Board of Aldermen Pass Resolution Opposing Offshore Oil Drilling

"The second resolution supporting a Surfrider Foundation request to oppose offshore drilling off the coast of North Carolina passed unanimously after some tweaking to address the concerns of Mayor Pro Tem Bill Blair and aldermen Susan Collins and Lisa Weeks who felt the language was a little strong.

The reworked resolution expressing opposition to offshore drilling until new regulatory safeguards are available and in place for protection was also adopted. The town's history of opposing offshore drilling dates back to the 1980s."
