Oil Drilling News

GULF OIL DISASTER/DEEPWATER DRILLING

Salazar: More work needed before deepwater drilling fully rebounds

Government to decide soon on offshore permits

Oil talking points get recycled

"Arguing that reversing the lull in the Gulf could reduce the increase in prices consumers are seeing at the pump anytime soon is a gross oversimplification of global oil markets and a huge overestimation of how much U.S. oil production affects worldwide oil demand, which is what really dictates how much we pay when we fill up.

But that didn't stop Louisiana politicians and other drilling proponents from attempting to make exactly that argument this week as fighting escalates in Libya and the new Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement issued its first permit for deepwater drilling."
